Description :
Gamma-Valerolactone (GVL) is a colourless, water-miscible fluid with an odour that is faintly sweet. It is part of the class of Cyclone esters (lactones) and originates from levulinic acid. This makes it an eco-friendly and renewable solvent.
GVL is well-known for its extremely high boiling point and chemical stability, as well as its low toxicity and biodegradability, which make it an appealing alternative to petroleum-based solvents. With its exceptional efficiency and ecological design, it can be used throughout the green chemistry field, including pharmaceuticals, fuel additives, and the polymer and pharmaceutical industries.
GVL is utilised as a solvent that is sustainable in organic catalyst reactions, synthesis, and separation procedures. Its low volatility as well as its high solvency make it a sustainable substitute for conventional solvents such as toluene or Acetone. It plays a vital role in green chemistry, reducing harmful solvent emissions.
It's a basic chemical which can be utilised for the creation of biodiesel fuels. GVL can be converted into liquid alkanes and butenes and other fuels that have an energy density that is high, which helps in the development of greener options for energy. Utilising it as a fuel additive will increase the efficiency of combustion and decrease emissions.
GVL is used as a drug intermediate for synthesis and also as a solvent to create formulations for pharmaceuticals. Biocompatibility and stability make it ideal for the creation of excipients for drug delivery and systems. Also, it is being studied for applications in controlled-release medications.
GVL is used in aroma and flavour formulations along with products such as D-Carvone, Isoamyl Phenyl Acetate, 4-Methylacetophenone, and Methyl Para Toluate. It provides sweet, flowery, and honey-like scents for cosmetics, fragrances, and food flavours.
Used as a monomer precursor for biodegradable polymers and resins. GVL-based derivatives are gaining importance in the production of environmentally friendly plastics, coatings, and adhesives.
It is used as a solvent carrier in the formulations of agrochemicals. The biodegradability of the product and its low toxicity can make it a viable choice in herbicides, pesticides, and plant growth boosters.
GVL is being studied as a green solvent for lithium-ion battery electrolytes as well as for advanced materials synthesis. The thermal stability of GVL allows it to be used for nanomaterial and electronic processing.
ChemicalBull produces GVL with high purity grades for use in pharmaceuticals, solvents and bio-based chemicals.
The product is available in both bulk and small-scale lab packaging. ChemicalBull assures safe transport and prompt supply throughout Vapi.
