Evicide(r) Levulinate (Evicide) is a naturally occurring, water-soluble antibacterial preservative that is made from sugar cane. It contains levulinic acids, sodium levulinate and glycerin as well as water. The bactericide is effective in protecting surfactants-based products such as shampoos, shower gels and cleanser at pH ranges that ranges between 4.5 to 6.0.
In personal care products, it provides broad protection against microbes. It is heat-stable, easy to use, and works well in natural cosmetic formulas. Adding ingredients like Triethyl Citrate, Glycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Polysorbate 20, or Sorbitan Monooleate can boost its performance.
