Instead, they are frequently used in conjunction with inhaled corticosteroids, which aid in the reduction of airway inflammation and the prevention of exacerbations. Combining LABAs with corticosteroids in a single inhaler is a typical asthma management method that provides both instant relief and long-term control. Athletes and participants in competitive sports should be informed that beta2-agonists are on the World Anti-Doping Agency's list of prohibited substances due to their ability to improve performance by enhancing bronchodilation and oxygen intake. Athletes with documented medical issues that necessitate these substances, on the other hand, can request for therapeutic use exemptions (TUEs) with valid medical reason. Overall, beta2-adrenoceptor agonists serve an important role in respiratory disease management, providing both rapid relief during acute episodes and long-term control when combined with other appropriate drugs.
