Oil dispersion is the act of separating big oil droplets into smaller ones and dispersing them in another liquid, usually water, to create a stable mixture. To obtain a uniform distribution of oil droplets within a continuous phase, the process of oil dispersion relies on numerous principles.Surfactants or emulsifiers are commonly used in this procedure.These chemicals have molecules that are both hydrophilic (attract water) and hydrophobic (attract oil).Surfactant molecules position themselves at the interface between the two immiscible liquids when introduced to the oil and water mixture. Manufacturers can generate desired textures, looks, and flavors in their final products by dispersing oil in water with other substances. Oil dispersion techniques are used in environmental applications such as oil spill remediation. The increased surface area allows microbial degradation and dilution, assisting in the natural breakdown of the oil, by breaking down the spilled oil into tiny droplets and distributing it in the water.
